Where is sound used to impress a partner, find a mate, or fight off a rival? You can find out in The Secret World of Sound. It’s a three part documentary series by Dugald Maudsley about how animals use sound in bizarre, amazing and unexpected ways to survive.

Fun fact: For The Secret World of Sound which airs on CBC Gem, Dugald says it took 25 days of shooting for 5 minutes of film. Dugald Maudsley is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. He’s researched, written, directed and produced documentaries in more than 30 countries, for broadcasters around the world.

Starting his journalism career first in New Zealand then moving to Australia,  Dugald eventually returned to his native Canada where he works with his wife Gillian Main in their production company, Infield Fly Productions.
