Julie’s Career Statement
My Desires, which are what I’m wanting and what’s important to me include:
- helping people identify and use their gifts and talents
- variety in my work – resumes, LinkedIn profiles, editing, website content, blogging, and being open to additional opportunities
- collaborating with other entrepreneurs to share best practices and facilitate each other’s growth and development
- giving my time and talents to organizations in my local community
I’m Naturally Interested in:
- reading – from Simon’s Sinek’s Start with Why to The Great Gatsy to almost everything in between
- networking with other business owners and professionals – pushing the boundaries of my introverted nature to share and learn from others
- figure skating – originally as a skater and a coach, but it’s now for fun, fitness, and inspiration
- do-it-yourself projects – can I make that wreath or a Halloween costume for my daughter?
The Strengths I want to use are:
- listening– storylistening has made a positive impact on how I approach creating documents—and plans of action— for clients
- motivation – I have been told that I can make people believe they can set and achieve a goal, and—more importantly—believe in their abilities
- empathy – clients have told me that I create a safe, trusting environment for them to share professional (and personal) information with me
My credibility and impact come from my Assets of:
- Bachelor of Arts – English (applied to professional writing)
- Bachelor of Education (applied to connecting with people of all ages and stages of their career journey)
- Ten years of experience in a very competitive corporate environment
- Eight project-related awards from Honeywell for teamwork, collaboration, and winning proposals; I use the skills I have learned in my business
My Personal Qualities and how others describe me include:
- caring – I like people to feel supported and safe when they work with me
- flexible – I will use various tools and styles of communication to connect with others
- optimism – I believe that we all have positive contributions to make to this world
Other People who influence me include:
- entrepreneurs I meet and build relationships with at BNI Business Elite
- my business coach, Samantha
- my Honeywell family who encouraged me to pursue my dreams
- Shellie – a colleague, fellow entrepreneur and friend
- Carm and Laura – my family, my foundation
- the team at CareerCycles that I am beginning to get to know and learn from
I’m most curious about exploring the Possibilities of:
- attending a conference for career professionals
- focusing more intently on writing applications for graduate students
- taking a course focused on blogging and SEO to upgrade and expand my knowledge
- experiencing and showing my daughter different cultures around the world through international travel
